Eyeshadow Tutorial: Mauve/ Lilac Soft Smokey Look

Lilac smokey look using Inglot Eyeshades

Step 1

Always use a base primer to intensify the color of the eyeshadow

After priming your lids with an eyeshadow primer, apply a white base color over the entire lid area and blend out well.(Click here to learn why it's important to use a primer and base before applying your eyeshadow)

Step 2

Using a lilac shade eyeshadow, apply it to the inner 3rd of your eyelid. I used Inglots DS493 for the inner 3rd. Now take a bluish/purple shade eyeshadow and apply it to the outer 3rd of your eyelid. For this look, I used Inglots DS 491. 

You will notice that there is a defined line(marked with an arrow) where these 2 colors meet. Take a flat shader brush like the one used in the next picture and gently pat onto this line until you see the 2 colors blending into each other.

Step 3

Pat in the lightest shade onto inner 3rd

Now for the inner 3rd of your eyes, use any mauve shade of shadow that is the lightest of all 3 colors. I used Inglots DS 492. Pat into place and blend out any harsh lines as explained in Step 2. 

Step 4

Create a smokey effect to the intensity of your choice

Using more purple, blend the outer 3rd of the eyeshadow, bringing the color on onto the crease line as far in as you want to. Blend, blend, blend using a windshield wiper movement so the color starts fading upward towards the eyebrow. To further intensify the smokey effect, you could add a bit of black eyeshadow when blending out the outer 3rd.

Step 5+6

Using a highlighter of your choice, highlight the brow bone and blend out any hard lines. I used Coloressence's EP15 from their EP1 8 shadow Pearl palette.

Line your lash line. Used here is the Bourjois Ultra Black felt-tip liner. Line your lower lash line with black kohl pencil.

Step 6

Final Look

Apply your mascara to upper and lower lashes. I used The Body Shops define n Lengthen mascara.

Eyeshadow Tutorial: Shimmery Cut Crease Using Coloressence Shimmer Powder

I had seen a look similar to this without the cut crease and totally loved the way the shimmer was used on the inner half of the eyelid. The star product here is the Coloressence Shimmer powder as I wanted to show you an alternate way that you could use it apart from just on the inner corner of your eye or over another color. Here I used it on its own with no base color- just a base pencil for something to hold it in place. On further experimentation, I added the cut crease and realized that the look was further enhanced and was extremely pleased with the outcome. Hope you will enjoy it too.

If  you are happy with the look up to this stage, you could wear it like that however if you want to amp it up a few notches, check out the next 2 steps.

I anticipated a lot of fallout from the shimmer, therefore I decided to do the foundation/ concealer bit 
after I finished off with the eyes.

Simple Everyday Look- Pink

When i think of the color pink, I think of roses, candy floss and strawberry ice cream lol. I love lighter shades of pink as it is such a soft, subtle and relaxing color. Its a very wearable color that will suit any eye or skin color.

I had a request last week from a very dear friend of mine, Lorraine who wanted a breakdown list of everyday makeup for women over 35/40 and all I could think of was a look using a coral pink eyeshade. So here is what I came up with and I hope it's a look that you would want to try out.

Products Used

1. NYX jumbo pencil in Milk
2. Mac loose pigment in Rose
3. Mac loose pigment in Old Gold
4. Mac Parfait Amour
5. Mac Crystal Avalanche
6. Mac Black Track Gel Liner
7.Mac Pro Longlash Mascara
8. Mac pencil liner for waterline in Smoulder

Step by Step Instructions...

1. Apply NYX jumbo pencil in Milk over the entire lid area and then blend out.
2. Taking a light/coral pink color, apply it onto the middle 1/3rd of your eyelid.

3. Take the Old Gold pigment and apply to the inner and outer 1/3rds of the eyelid. Blend out the areas where the 2 colors meet so that there are no harsh lines.

4. Using a pencil blending brush, pick up some of the purple Parfait Amour and use it to smoke out the outer 1/3rd of the eyelids. Blend, blend, blend so that there is a good transition between the colors. You can intensify the smokey look depending on how dark you would want it. Keep picking up more color and blending it to darken the smokey effect.

product and blending

5. All that's really left to do now, is to highlight the brow bone(I used Mac's Crystal Avalanche)
6. Line your upper lash line, apply your mascara and line the waterline with black kohl pencil.

I applied the concealer and foundation after doing the eyes as there was a lot of fall out with the loose pigment. I then used an angled brush with a mix of black and dark brown eyeshadows to fill in the eyebrows. Blusher and lipstick can be of your choice.

Easy Cut Crease- Blue & Lime Green

Some of us are happy and content with creating and wearing simple, conventional makeup looks while others can pull off the most dramatic looks which one would only reserve for the catwalk with absolute ease and comfort. The confidence that one needs when wearing these eccentric looks is definitely admirable and worthy of mention.  Makeup these days have certainly broken the traditional barriers and artistic creativity seems to be the order of the day. 

While some have a natural flair and talent for creativity, others like me, take my cue from those that don't mind breaking a few conventional boundaries....most of the times anyway...! One such look being the dramatic, cut crease look. I've always admired it in magazines and on models but never really tried to recreate it until I was stuck for an idea for a makeup tutorial. I think it turned out pretty well....and I hope that you think so too.

So let's get started......... Products used......

Basic necessary products

1. Always remember to prime your lids with an eyeshadow primer and apply a base shade over that to make the colors of your eyeshadow pop.
2. Now, with any dark blue eyeliner pencil, line the crease line of your eyes creating an elongated 'S', taking care to flick out the outer end. Take a small flat angled brush and brush out the drawn line upwards towards the eyebrow.
3. Take a black eyeliner pencil and repeat what you've just done with the blue pencil.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
4. To further  intensify the color, take a black eyeshadow using a pencil brush and blend out any hard lines. 
5. Take a blue pigment eyeshadow and blend carefully over the black.
6. Fill in the lower part of the lid with the lime green pigment taking care not to apply any above the crease created with the eyeliner pencil.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
7. I then further defined the cut crease using a liquid liner and lined the eyes as well and flicked the end downward...funnily enough, the 2 lines drawn resemble a fish without its eyes and fins lol.
8. Highlight the brow bone with a white eyeshadow and apply the same shadow in between the 2 
9. lines at the outer corner of the eye.

11. You could leave it like this or for extra drama, you could spice it up with rhinestones, glitter or any other accessories that you may have.

Unfortunately, as I had dispensed the pigments into little carry along bottles, I don't recall the names of the pigment. However, you can use any pigment similar in color or substitute it for any color of your choice.

For weeks I have been trying to locate a good step by step tutorial to show you how to create a cut crease eyeshadow look. I myself have not quite yet perfected the technique and my camera is crap at taking out decent close up pictures. Imagine my excitement when I came across not just an excellent tutorial at www.fashionisers.com but the pictures are also perfectly clicked and the steps so simple and easy, it would inspire anyone to want to pull out their makeup and start practicing.


How to Create a Gradient Blue Cut Crease Eye Makeup Look

For the hot gradient blue cut crease eye makeup, you’ll need:

• Foundation

• a brow kit to fill in your eyebrows

• an eyeshadow base

• a white matte eyeshadow

• three hues of a blue eyeshadow (light blue, medium and a dark one)

• a black eyeliner

• a matte black eyeshadow to create the crease

• a brown eyeshadow

• mascara

• false eyelashes

• a lip gloss

• makeup brushes

So as you have all the necessary products, let’s start with our makeup application steps!

Step 1: Make sure you have a clean, fresh face in order to create a flawless base for your makeup. 

Apply a toner to your face and a moisturizer. The latter step can be omitted, if you have oily skin. Now, apply a foundation primer for a long-lasting effect. Pick the best foundation for your skin tone and type and apply it all over your face with a makeup brush, a sponge or with your fingers. If you have some blemishes to conceal, turn to the concealer. Finally, contour your face with your favorite blush color and a highlighter.

Step 2: As you are done with your skin, move on to the most complicated part of the gradient blue cut crease eye makeup look: the eyes. For well-emphasized and beautiful eyes, it’s important to pay attention to the shape of your eyebrows too. If you don’t have the perfect shape, create one by lining the arch with a brown gel liner and then filling in your eyebrows with a brow shadow.

Step 3: In order to prevent eyeshadow from creasing, apply an eyeshadow base all over the eyelids. Then to create the base for your eye makeup, put white matte eyeshadow on your lids and right under the brows.

Step 4: Apply your eyeshadow, starting with the lighter blue tone (Sleek Palette Colour Chill), which should be used in the middle of your lid. Next to it put the slightly darker blue tone (Inglot 371) and then the darkest one (Sleek Palette Colour Bolt).

Step 5: Apply the black eyeliner for a more defined eye makeup. Make sure to apply it, according to your eye shape, since the same line won’t flatter everyone (Learn How to Apply Eyeliner According to Your Eye Shape). You may add some more blue tone at the end of the line drawn.

Step 6: Using the matte black eyeshadow, draw a fake crease above your natural crease line. We have used Inglot 63 matte eyeshadow here. For a more intense and dramatic look, you can apply a black gel liner over the crease line drawn. Blend the line with a brown eyeshadow, creating a flawless look. Afterwards, add more black eyeshadow in the same place.

Step 7: Highlight your lower lash line with the medium blue eye shadow (Inglot 371). Then apply a few coats of black mascara, and false eyelashes for a more dramatic result.

Step 8: Since your eyes are already bold and well-emphasized, leave your lips natural. Apply a delicate pink lip gloss (Sweet Crème by Eveline) and you are ready to go!

Eyeshadow Tutorial: Yellow & Green Eyeshadow Look

Step 1 - Apply a Yellow eye shadow through the inner 2/3 of your eye
Step 2 - Apply a Green eye shadow to the outer 3rd of your eye and through the crease
Step 3 - Blend 

Step 4 - Take the eye shadow under the eye. Green for the outer 2/3 and yellow for the inner 1/3
Step 5 - Apply gel liner to the upper lash line and creating a flick at the end
